Editbot Terms of Service
Last updated: November 5, 2026
These terms are between you and Cover Letter Copilot, LLC ("Editbot", "we", "us"). They cover the Editbot app (for Mac and Windows), the editing skills it downloads, geteditbot.com, and the Editbot subscription (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
1. What Editbot is
Editbot is post-production software for talking-head videos. It runs on your computer: it cuts, captions, adds graphics and music, renders and checks your video. The editing is done by Claude, Anthropic's AI, running under your own Claude account (a Claude Pro or Max plan, or another plan Anthropic offers). Editbot does not provide, resell or pay for that Claude account.
Editbot is in beta. Features may change, break or be removed, and we may pause the beta. Tell us what goes wrong.
2. Your two accounts
- Your Editbot account. You sign in with Google on geteditbot.com. You're responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at hello@geteditbot.com if you think someone else has used it.
- Your Claude account. This is separate, and you need a paid Claude plan that includes Claude Code. You connect it in the app on Anthropic's own sign-in page. Your use of Claude is governed by Anthropic's terms and policies, including its usage limits. Editbot never sees your Claude password or sign-in. Editbot is not made, endorsed or supported by Anthropic. Anthropic can change Claude Code, its plans, prices, limits or rules at any time, including in ways that limit or stop Editbot working. If that happens we'll tell you, and you can cancel. If Anthropic limits or ends your Claude access, Editbot can't edit until it's restored, and that doesn't entitle you to a refund from us.
You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live, to use the Service.
3. Where your videos are processed and stored
Your footage, transcripts, edits and finished videos are processed and stored on your computer. They aren't uploaded to Editbot, except (a) diagnostics, including the video, when an edit fails or a final render finishes, unless you turn this off in the ⋯ menu, and (b) a video you choose to send to support. See the Privacy Policy. To edit, the app gives Claude (through your Claude account) the parts of your project it needs, such as the transcript, frames and the plan. Anthropic processes that under its terms and privacy policy, not ours. See our Privacy Policy for what Editbot itself collects.
4. Subscription, automatic renewal and cancelling
- Price: Editbot costs $20 per month (US dollars, plus any tax that applies), charged in advance through Stripe on the day you subscribe and on the same day each month after.
- Automatic renewal: your subscription renews automatically every month, and we charge your payment method $20 each month, until you cancel. By subscribing you agree to this.
- How to cancel: any time, online: go to geteditbot.com/account, choose Manage subscription, then Cancel subscription (or use Manage subscription in the app). Or email hello@geteditbot.com and we'll cancel it for you. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the month you've paid for.
- Confirmation and reminders: after you subscribe we email you the price, these terms and how to cancel. We'll remind you once a year that you're subscribed.
- Failed payments: if a payment fails, we'll tell you by email and in the app. Editbot keeps working for 7 days so you can update your card. After that, editing pauses until payment succeeds.
- Price changes: we'll email you 7 to 30 days before a new price takes effect, with how to cancel. It applies from your next renewal after that. If you don't want it, cancel before then.
4A. Free and complimentary access
We may give some people free access (for example friends, family, testers or reviewers), a free video, or a promotion code. Free access is at our discretion, can end at any time after we tell you, and comes with no feature or support promises. These terms still apply. When it ends, you can subscribe to keep using Editbot.
5. Refunds
Payments are non-refundable, including for part of a month, except where the law requires otherwise. If something went wrong (a duplicate charge, or the app never worked on your computer), email hello@geteditbot.com within 14 days of the charge and we'll look at it. Any refund is at our discretion. A refunded or charged-back payment ends the subscription immediately.
EU and UK customers: you normally have 14 days to cancel a digital service. When you subscribe, you ask us to start straight away and agree that you lose that right for the paid month once you've downloaded and used Editbot.
6. Automatic updates
The app downloads and installs updates automatically. That covers both the app itself and the editing skills (the instructions and tools Claude uses to edit), which update every time the app starts. Updates can add, change or remove features. You need an active subscription to receive them. Some updates are required: if your version is too old to work with our servers, the app asks you to update before it continues.
7. Licence to the software and skills
While your subscription is active, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the app and the editing skills on up to 2 computers for your own videos, including videos you make for clients. You may not:
- copy, share, publish, resell or redistribute the app, the editing skills or the shared assets;
- reverse-engineer them, except where the law allows despite this term;
- use them to build a competing product;
- remove our notices, or get around the account, device or subscription checks.
The skills reach your computer and your Claude session in readable form; that doesn't make them yours to share. When your subscription ends, this licence ends, the app stops downloading updates and assets, and editing stops. Videos you've already made stay yours and on your computer.
Third-party components. The app and skills include or install third-party software, fonts, sound effects and music, listed in the app and in the kit's NOTICE file. Each is licensed under its own terms, and nothing in these terms limits your rights under those licences.
Remotion. Editbot renders with Remotion, which it installs on your computer. Remotion is free for individuals and companies of up to 3 people. If you use Editbot for a company or agency of 4 or more people, you need your own Remotion company licence (remotion.dev/license).
8. Your content and music
- You own your videos. We claim no rights in your footage or in the videos Editbot makes from it.
- Our parts of your videos. Your videos can include our templates, graphics, animations and caption styles. We give you a permanent, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, publish and earn money from them as part of your videos, including after your subscription ends. You may not extract them to reuse on their own.
- You must have the rights to everything you put into Editbot or ask it to fetch (your footage, music you add, logos, images, screenshots and web pages), and the consent of every identifiable person who appears or is heard in your footage. Only add footage of other people if you have their permission for it to be processed, including as diagnostics.
- Logos and web pages. When you ask for a company's logo or a web page in a video, Editbot fetches it for you. Showing it doesn't mean that company endorses your video, and whether your use is allowed is your responsibility.
- Music. The built-in tracks are cleared for published videos under the licences shown in the app. Five of them (Creative Commons Attribution) require a credit line in your caption. Editbot gives you the exact line; adding it is your job.
- Check before you publish. You're responsible for what you publish. AI edits can make mistakes, such as a wrong caption, a cut in the wrong place, or a graphic that misstates something.
9. Acceptable use
Don't use the Service to make or edit content that:
- is illegal;
- infringes anyone's rights;
- harasses, threatens or defames people;
- sexualises minors;
- impersonates someone to deceive people;
- uses footage of other people without their permission, or edits other creators' videos you don't own or have permission to use;
- alters a real person's face or voice to deceive people;
- misleads people about elections, health or money;
- spreads malware.
Don't use it in ways that break Anthropic's usage policies. Don't overload, probe or attack our servers, or share an account between people. We may suspend accounts that break these rules.
10. Feedback and diagnostics
If you send feedback or diagnostics from the app, we may use them to improve Editbot. The app shows you exactly what will be sent before it sends anything.
11. No warranty
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties, express or implied, including that it will be error-free, uninterrupted, or fit for a particular purpose. We don't promise any result from the edits, or that Claude (a service we don't control) will be available.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows:
- We aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or footage.
- Our total liability for any claim about the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Keep backups of your footage.
12A. Your responsibility for your content
If someone makes a claim against us because of content you put into Editbot or publish with it, or because you broke these terms, you'll cover our reasonable costs of that claim, including legal fees, except to the extent it's our fault.
13. Ending your account
You can stop using Editbot and delete your account at geteditbot.com/account. Deleting it:
- cancels your subscription immediately, with no refund for the rest of the month;
- signs out your computers;
- erases your account data, as described in the Privacy Policy.
Videos on your computer aren't touched; delete them yourself if you want them gone. We may suspend or end accounts that break these terms, and we'll tell you why unless the law or safety says otherwise.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. For material changes we'll give at least 30 days' notice by email or in the app. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the new terms.
15. Disputes and general terms
- Talk to us first. Email hello@geteditbot.com. We'll both try to sort it out within 30 days before going to court.
- Small claims. Either of us may bring a claim in small-claims court where you live.
- Law and courts. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York. Other disputes go to the state and federal courts in New York County, New York. If you're a consumer, you keep the protections and the right to use the courts that the law where you live gives you.
- If a term is unenforceable, the rest still applies. We may transfer these terms if Editbot is sold or merged. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement about the Service.
- Editbot is not affiliated with or endorsed by Anthropic. Claude and Claude Code are trademarks of Anthropic, PBC. Other names belong to their owners.
